I found this absolute gem while looking for a team on the GMTK team finder!
The graphics are very cute and lovely and very well drawn, puzzles and gameplay are so satisfying!
But I wish the "drawing platform mechanic" had actual use other than just ground to jump on (For example, making a path for liquids or making a floor to mobs walk on to and so on so forth).
Ps. I found this speed run route during my first playthrough, and then after I realized that I need all three elements, so I had to go back to get it lol
Hi Jorge! Sorry to hear you're struggling to get back up after you fall down in the first map. > ㅡ< 💦
If you go to the left after falling down, you should see an icon that lets you unlock the Earth fairy! After you get the fairy, you can start drawing Earth platforms that you can draw over and over again to go back up!
I've recorded a gif to help you! :3 Let me know if you're still stuck! And thank you trying out our game. ^ ^
Unfortunately, we haven't really thought about the minimal specs required to play our game ㅠ ㅡㅠ Sorry about not having that ready for you!
We recommend having a computer that is strong enough to play games like League of Legends! (Sorry for the vague description . . .) Hope you are able to play Sumi and the Soulless Spirits! We'd be so happy if you could. 💚
Hi RainyBadge96454! Thanks for the question! :3 We're not entirely sure if this is runnable on a 32-bit Windows computer, but we're less confident it will run smoothly. We highly recommend trying to find a computer with slightly better specs to run the game for the best experience possible!
Sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope you can try out our game! We'd be honored!! 💙
I LOVED this game so much! To the creators, I want you all to know that you did FANTASTiC and deserve to go far! If I can ever do anything to help further assist future projects, I would be HONORED! My video review should be public at Stellar Dakota on YouTube 04/15/2021 at 10amEST! Keep it up guys!
AHHHH!! 💙 We're all so VERY excited to watch the review! I love the videos you've created for other content, so it's super awesome that we'll be getting one for our small game! I appreciate the time and effort you've gone into making us a video and we're on the lookout for it!
Just saw your post asking for help with the translation to PT-BR. Hit me on twitter (@brazloct or @LenweGLoc) or something (new to this platform) so I can get to work :)
Really cute game, fantastic mechanic with a lot of potential but it lacks some basic stuff like a proper tutorial (Granted the game is very intuitive) If you don't read the itchio page carefully (like me) you end up wandering without knowing how anything aside from you brush works.
It would be nice if the different element platforms had some noticeable difference, specially considering how well executed the 2D characters in 3D environment is executed in this game, idk if you plan on updating this game or working further on it, but I do see a lot of potential in this idea. Even with those small flaws and the general lack of content it was really fun.
Hi Hikiyami Moriko! Thank you so very muchfor trying out short, simple game we made in a week. 💛
Your gameplay video was made super nicely! c: Superb quality, thank you for putting it together! I loved all the comments you made about the art and comments towards the voice lines hehe, made me giggle!
Sorry that your experience wasn't totally the best! We definitely were ambitious when trying to implement an immersive tutorial (one that doesn't show dialogue/hints) that wasn't executed very well for the jam. But because lotsof people felt that the tutorial could have been better, that was our biggest priority in our 1.1 build! ^ ㅡ^ If the first playthrough wasn't TOO jarring, we would be extremely honored if you had another stab at Sumi! c:
Regardless, thank you again LOTS and LOTS for playing and making a video for our little game!!
AHH very exciting! Thank you so much for including us in your list of indie games to play! I love your choice of indie games - there's a lot of really cool ones I see (like Path of Kami, absolutely gorgeous!!)
Please keep us updated once you upload your video! ^ ㅡ^ And if you'd like to try out our newest build, we would be so honored!
I stumbled upon this game accidently while searching through this website looking for a decent game and this might be the most wonderful accident that might have happened to me. the game is a 2D third person perspective game with surprisingly cool graphics. Most people would lose interest in the game after learning the fact that the game is 2D but the moment you open the game, you will automatically realize the game is going to be a magical journey.
The game uses basic controls employed by usual games involving movement. you have to use W key to jump and the A and D keys to move left and right respectively. The game mechanics are in good synchronization with the keys. As the game progresses, the character frees certain spirits which gives her the ability to do magical things. This brings in the use of the mouse and the cursor into the game. You free the first spirit and she gives you the ability to draw small platforms on thin air. This is very important to the game as you have to climb huge hills using this ability. Then you have to go on to the next level where you free another spirit who gives you another ability. This is how the game progresses and its quite interesting in reality.
The game requires the user to use their puzzle solving skills. An example for this is when in certain terrains in the game, you need to use the abilities provided by the fairies and figure out a way out of the terrain in order to gain a way into the next level. It is exciting from the get go and doesn't disappoint as the levels progress. This is a huge plus point as many games make us lose interest after a while.
The game has a very calming soundtrack that goes hand in hand with the game's mechanics and gameplay. The game is pretty easy going and it doesn't frustrate the user as other games tend to do. The in-game visuals are pretty simple but they are quite befitting for the game. The scenarios change as we progress through levels. There is an eye-catching level involving a night time scenario involving glowing flowers to light the path the player is supposed to take. I felt enthralled by the visuals and particularly the last mentioned one.
All considered, the game is a very calming and beautiful experience which leaves us filled with a sense of fulfillment and happiness which is something many games in today's market can't promise. This game was a wonderful experience.
Wow... I am quite taken away by such a beautifully well written review that outlines a lot of the key mechanics so well! Our dev team has been blown away by the sheer level of dedication and thoughtfulness you put into this comment! ㅠ ㅡㅠ THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’m so especially happy that the game left such a positive note on you!
Sumi was too adorable to ignore, so I gave it a go. While the platform mechanic and some of the landscape could use a little polish, it's still a good foundation for something with potential. It was fun skipping over areas, hopping from platform to platform as the bouncy little protag, and the music gave a nice, relaxing atmosphere.
First of all, I wanted to say thank you SO VERY MUCH for playing our little game! The dev team had a lot of fun watching your Let's Play video!! And we're super glad the music was enjoyable and you liked our sqooshy protagonist HAHA! 💕
Also, to answer a couple questions from your video~ ^ ㅡ^
We are indeed all students! :3
I actually haven't watched Adventure Time before (sadly) HAHA, but I know a few characters from that show! I actually didn't notice the similarity until you mentioned it, bahaha!
"You're cute enough to brighten up any day" - I DIED LAUGHING HAHA, your commentary is so hilarious, I love it! 💛
You mentioned a lot of things we were hoping to have implemented before the game jam was over, but we had less than a week to fit everything in (such as the mud rocks you talked about, and the lake - we really wanted that! Haha)
As for the platform rocks, I actually hand-painted them! c: I wish I knew how to do low-poly art LOL! Something to check off my bucket list of things to learn one day. :3 Here's what they look like in a bigger resolution:
Sorry this response ended up being so long, but IREALLY really liked your gameplay video so, so much! Thank you for taking the time to make such a high quality video and playing our game!
Glad you liked my playthrough, and thank you for making the game.
I could tell the rocks/platforms were painted(which looked nice by the way). When I mentioned low poly, I meant the levels themselves. The dirt, boulders, trees, etc.
It's always cool getting responses from devs, so I don't mind long ones at all!
This game caught my attention since it looked SO cute! And it really was amazingly cute, it also had great sounds and well working mechanics. It was very nice experience and I would have loved it if it was longer T_T All you people making this are amazingly skilled and good at what you do, I'm so impressed. Just great work!
AWWWW, you are absolutely precious and too sweet! Thank you so much, Napuyums!! All of us developers were super stoked when we watched your gameplay video, we really appreciate you making one! Your adorable commentary and thoughtfulness were a thrill to watch~ ^ ㅡ^ And we're super flattered you want more content! 💕
Wow, where do I even start? It's amazing that you guys managed to create an entire soundtrack for this game, and create art at the quality that it was, on top of designing really unique gameplay! My favorite part, however, was probably actually the UI- it's easy to navigate and, from the start, feels incredibly polished. I love the touch on the lower right credits where they're actually clickable links! Though I don't think the quit menu actually let you quit ^^"
I think a slime tutorial would actually have been very helpful, in the beginning. I didn't really realize what they did, or why they didn't damage you, until I went back and read the hints, so this could have been expressed a little better in game.
Nonetheless, this game is beautiful-- kudos to the artists, both 2D and 3D! The different elements mesh together really well. :)
AHHHHH 💦 This is such a lovely review, thank you so much for writing such a comprehensive one xiongc! I'm so happy that your favorite was the UI, haha I'm so honored!! (And yes. . .unfortunately, we noticed the unclickable Quit menu a little too late HAHA! But we have fixed it for the upcoming update! :3)
And I completely agree - we could have done a better job introducing some of the mechanics in the game (like with the slimes)! ^ ㅡ^ We hope to do a better job next time!
Thank you so much!! I'm really glad that you like the art style! Yes - agreed! I think some of the puzzle pieces could have definitely used a few cues or tutorial of some sort. Thank you for the feedback!

Hi!!! Wow, thank you so much for offering! Very kind and thoughtful of you to reach out!
At the moment, I believe we have someone for PT-BR translations, but if some mishaps occur, will definitely reach out!
Thank you lots!! 💛

I enjoyed the gameplay video very much!

Great art style! Gameplay-wise, there are some really cool ideas at work, but some puzzle pieces aren't explained super well.
